Component Substitutions

The right alternative,
qualified fast

When your specified component is unavailable, overpriced, or discontinued, you need a drop-in replacement you can trust. We cross-reference, qualify, and deliver equivalent components so your production keeps moving.

When You Need Us

Four scenarios where substitution is the answer

Component Shortage

Your primary part is on allocation with a 52-week lead time. Production cannot wait. You need a qualified alternative that drops into the same footprint and meets the same electrical specs.

End of Life

The manufacturer discontinued your part. No last-time-buy stock remains. A cross-reference replacement is the only path forward without a full board redesign.

Cost Optimization

The original part works fine, but a compatible component from a different manufacturer costs 40% less at volume. We identify and qualify those opportunities.

Lead Time Reduction

Your specified component ships in 26 weeks. An equivalent part from another manufacturer is in stock today. We validate compatibility so you can make the swap with confidence.

Our Process

How we qualify every substitution

01

Parametric Matching

We start with the datasheet. Every critical parameter gets compared: voltage ratings, current handling, temperature range, package dimensions, pin configuration, tolerance bands. If the numbers do not match, it does not move forward.

02

Form-Fit-Function Analysis

Same footprint. Same mounting style. Same mechanical clearances. We verify that the substitute physically drops into your existing PCB layout and assembly process without modification.

03

Electrical Validation

For critical substitutions, we perform electrical parametric testing on sample units. This confirms real-world performance matches the datasheet claims, not just the marketing.

04

Manufacturer Cross-Reference

We maintain access to cross-reference databases from major manufacturers including TI, ON Semi, STMicro, Vishay, and Murata. When a manufacturer publishes an official equivalent, we start there.

05

Documentation Package

Every substitution comes with a written justification: parameter comparison tables, datasheet excerpts, and our recommendation. Your engineering team gets everything they need to approve the change.

Risk Management

Not all substitutions are equal

A 10kΩ resistor swap is straightforward. Replacing a mixed-signal IC in a medical device is not. We grade every substitution by risk level and adjust our qualification process accordingly.

For high-reliability applications in defense, aerospace, medical, and automotive, we go beyond datasheet comparison. We can arrange environmental testing, accelerated life testing, and application-specific validation through our testing partners.

Low Risk

Same manufacturer, different package or suffix. Direct cross-reference published by the manufacturer.

Medium Risk

Different manufacturer, same function and specs. Requires parametric verification and form-fit-function analysis.

High Risk

Different architecture or technology. Requires electrical testing, application-specific validation, and engineering review.
